An exciting, lyrical and witty CD of piano music by Robert Ely is out, featuring the Cook & Stanley piano duo and myself. I hope my first ever CD will do justice to Robert’s music! I was honoured to be chosen by Robert for this recording.
Robert is a prolific composer with reams of fabulous music waiting to be played. As well as the piano music we recorded, he has songs, chamber sonatas and works for large ensembles. His flagship project is A Gay Century, a cycle of chamber operas about the experiences of gay people from the 20th century to the present day. Robert and his amazing collaborator, Peter Scott–Presland, are also campaigners for LGBTQIA+ rights. The completed work will be likely longer than Wagner’s Ring cycle and a major step for LGBTQIA+ issues in ‘classical music.’
